In Sudan and in South Sudan kids die without ever being diagnosed because symptoms of malaria and TB cover up the T1D. There are very limited medical supplies and poverty is severe. A good job with the SS government might pay about $10/month, while the cost of strips and insulin greatly exceeds this monthly salary. So, without help from people like me and you, thousands of T1D kids in South Sudan will die each year, and every year.
KCC has been very fortunate to have identified extremely generous supporters for strips and lancets. But, we still really need your extra meters. T1D is detected and managed through glucose monitoring . . . and the strips and lancets are worthless without a meter. Your extra strips are critically needed . . . and so are your old meters.

KCC is currently providing 100% financial support to the Malakia and Gurei Diabetes Clinics in South Sudan. These clinics were founded and have been sponsored for many years by the Hon. Dr. Constantine Jervase Yak, with staff leadership provided by Ms. "Mama" Joice. Enormous thanks and gratitude are extended to Dr. "Costa" and Mama Joice for these amazing, super-human efforts. They are my heros, and it's clear that they never gave up. Kyle was a paid employed by the U.S. Senate as a U.S. Senate Page from January-June 2020. Because of this, and with great thanks to the U.S. Senate, KCC has been financially supporting these two diabetes clinics in South Sudan since May 2020.
KCC continues to provide insulin, blood glucose measuring strips and meters to T1D's in Juba, South Sudan, and Hasaheesa, Sudan. These supplies are provided free of charge courtesy of KCC and its partners, such as Insulin for Life (IFL) and Teststripz.com.To date, hundreds of T1D children as well as T2D adults are being supported and saved by KCC.
Please be generous, as your support goes a long way. The link to donate funds or supplies is just above this paragraph,.

Kyle and a small group visited Juba for meetings with government and healthcare officials August 2019. This meeting was very successful. A powerPoint summarizing this trip can be downloaded from the Research Tab of this website.
Kyle lived and worked in South Sudan and in Sudan for five weeks in Sep/Oct 2020. While there he met with ministers and government officials promoting diabetic care. See the Picture Gallery for additional details.
